Local Templeton Branch Honored as Top in State for Stewardship

2013 templeton Environmental Respect Award

Customers, neighbors, and employees of Ceres Solutions LLP have good reason to celebrate. That’s because the team at the Templeton Branch in Crawfordsville, Ind., has earned the Environmental Respect Award (all state winner) for Indiana for 2013.  The Environmental Respect Awards, sponsored by DuPont and CropLife® magazine, are the agricultural industry’s highest recognition for environmental stewardship among U.S. agricultural retailers. Each year, a panel of industry experts gathers to recognize achievement in environmental stewardship, professional excellence, and community involvement.

Ceres Solutions at Templeton won the award based on excellence in site design, in-plant storage and handling procedures, plus proper application and leadership in safety and stewardship among customers and employees. Ceres Solutions has taken many extra positive environmental steps at Templeton, including utilizing safety checklists to track, store and transfer inventory. The Templeton team also takes special care that loading and unloading lines are labeled appropriately, and that concrete pads have been installed between and outside the rails at the unloading points for rail deliveries.

“When you have a culture rooted in doing the right thing, profound outcomes ensue,” says Tom Stein, Ceres Templeton manager. “Doing the right thing affects how you treat the environment as well as how you treat other people. We have always strived to be leaders in our industry, to spearhead a positive influence and show the way by example. That includes leading others to become better stewards of the environment.”

“DuPont is pleased to congratulate the winners of the 2013 Environmental Respect Awards and applauds their accomplishment in environmental stewardship,” said Rik Miller, president, DuPont Crop Protection.
